Some of us are born looking up to the gutter...BEDOUIN.—It is a fascinating subject for study, the Australist man, this reversion of the British type towards primitivism under the Bedouin conditions of life which Nature imposes. The Australist Bush Man, with his exaggerated love of the horse, who any day would ride out solitary on a week’s journey into a great sun - baked wilderness, his life and that of his dog and two horses dependent on the accurate finding of series of water - holes ; his joy in existence coming from the solitude of the desert, the companionship of his three animals, his tobacco, and the thought of a “mate” somewhere, who he would meet after six months’ absence with a handshake and a monosyllable by way of greeting and yet with the love of a fond brother. ( Not the love of an over fond Christian Brother. )

VANISHING.—It is a pity that this type of man is vanishing – plainly there are not enough of them capable of finding those fucking water - holes.

WOMENFOLK.—You know, one of these days we really must find out what the womenfolk get up to...
