DE POTATO, ROSEMARY.( 1889 - 1977 ) b. 6000. A romantic novelist of some stature (over 6 foot) whose later pornographic works reflect her delicate, intellectual often unmistakably feminine verse written with innate sureness, e.g. : Cock Crow ( Ile de Marie, 1968 ). Yes, it is widely agreed these books are abject failures from every imaginable perspective.

I would prefer a swordNING, YVONNE.( 1900 - 1980 ) b. Steynes, Eng. Ning was a great Australist Writer. Or was she? She was born and lived most of her life in Eng. (except for her final years which she spent in Miami, Florida, US.) She always used British publishers.¶

Yet Australists claim her as an Australist author. Despite Ning’s books being set in Europe (and often during the Crusades, long before Australis even existed). There are also several well - documented occasions she has said she is not Australist, has never been to Australis. and has nothing to do with the country.¶

And yet we claim her as our own. Why is this? Are we all fooling ourselves? Not really, because Yvonne Ning’s books are Australist. Whether she likes it not. This was conclusively proved when during her appearance on Who’s That Stiff?- the post-mortem revealing that for her whole life, Ning was an undiagnosed but fully - blown “subconscious Australist”.

DIX, FRANCIS.( 1920 - ) b. Surrey, Eng. An ex - stable hand, Dix knows how things can end badly – and especially how a horse’s end can go bad. Indeed, his intimate knowledge of horses has provided the background for a series of fascinating police investigations. What a pity his boring horse racing books don’t include accounts of these real life interrogations. Or perhaps if they were made part of a salacious hidden camera segment on 60 Minutes. One can only hope.

TWINE, MARK.( 1835 - 1910 ) b. Florida, Miss, US. Twine claimed his book A Yankee in a Kangaroo Court ( 1876 ) was a monumental act of literary invention - a tale of his visit to an imaginary country. Then why did it include photos from his six month long speaking tour of Australis? Some speculate Twine was an idiot; others that he made this desperate tour to revive his personal fortunes after a disastrous investment in Dvorak’s Symphony for a New Keyboard.
