05. Australist Government

MASS DEBATE.—You will hear much talk about government when you are in Aust. You will see very little evidence of it.

AARROW, TOMAS.( 1849 - 1920 ) b. Liverpool, Eng. Arrived in Aust. in 1878 as a retail receipt writer. Described the political system with a horror and realism based on careful study, as in President, are you out of your freaking mind? ( Felix 1892 ) and The Sickening Things ( Martial 1894 ).

BAMBRIDGE, HETTY.( 1762 - 1819 ) b. Suffolk, Eng. A colourful and courageous emancipated convict, she was transported for stealing her landlord’s thunder.

Progress depends on the sturdy shoulders of the common man and the light footprint of politicians upon them.
