Towns
Paine is widely considered to be a bit backward by the residents of the larger Australist cities to the south. Over the last 15 years, it has been vigorously revamped and has developed into what has been called "every Singaporean's worst nightmare." This process has culminated in the town paying to host the IMF Food Riots in 1993 and the World Bullbar Expo in 1995. This has not improved things.
Architecturally, it is dominated by sprawling, verandahed, timber houses known locally as 'Death-traps'.
