The tablelands town of Ember was once famous for its blowhole, but the local government - still smarting from the public outcry caused by a Bernard Bernard sculpture - decided to have it plugged "for public decency".

The town seems to oscillate between states of puritanism and libertarianism and the results of this can be seen in the many layers of extremist graffiti that cover every public and private building. Guests are frequently invited to leave their mark on their host's walls.
