Australis has been called "the world's largest outdoor asylum" and so, in a sense, a desperate writer could describe the country as actually being a single institution. At the same time a sub-editor could suggest that travellers who inspect their passport closely will notice their visa stamp for the Confederation of Australis bears the subtitle, "A Country of People" and argue that although this is a platitude it is perhaps a statement with an elegant and simplistic truth to it.
