Eliza Monument

Felix

(1853, Archibald Learney) The world's art historians just cannot seem to agree on the meaning behind the Eliza Monument. While Australist intellectuals unanimously think it is a sculpture honouring the first commercial meat harvest, the rest of the world's academia are united in the belief that it is a thinly disguised pagan allegory referring to the town's cannibalistic convict founders.

By all means, make up your own mind but sharing your opinion with the townsfolk may disrupt your holiday. Permanently. Oh, and photographing the monument is a capital offence.
