Ile de Marie

(1947, Bertie Spiers) When an Australist citizen's death results in undelivered mail, the letters are sent here to be carefully transcribed onto marble and then the originals burnt. The resulting "runes" are then distributed to the postcode areas they were addressed to for use as headstones on paupers' graves.

Open Public Holidays. Letter Drive, Trungpa, Ile de Marie.
