Elkington's

6000

1/5 $$$$$ Used to be one of the West's truly great restaurants until a couple of years ago when the owner, "Dutch" Elkington was rumoured to have had a nervous breakdown. The cracks are beginning to show - with white wine being offered with meat dishes, vegetables being steamed and puddings vanishing from the dessert menu. Such a shame.

UPDATE
On New Year's Eve, Dutch appeared in the main dining room, his nude body covered in a cranberry and lemon sauce, garnished in parsley and Vietnamese mint. He invited all of his customers to "lick me." Despite the fact that many of the patrons did take him up on the offer, Elkington's has shut its doors and is likely to re-open under new management later this year.

Closed!

Fact: In 1980, a people's ballot successfully banned Star Trek and any related merchandise or tie-ins. The Supreme Court also decreed mandatory life sentences for anyone associated with its trafficking or manufacture.
