35. Personalities

ARSE, PHILLIP.( 1961 - ) b. Ile De Marie. The man who put poser into composer. Can’t get enough of the fellow. The garden loves his manure. er, compositions.

BORG, CYRUS.( 1974 - ) b. Showagong. Twists a bit of metal and writes pages of intellectual waffle to justify it. In my day these sorts of people were safely locked away from the world. A bullish artist, I’m told. At least that’s what I think they said…

HEIFETZ, WINONA.( 1969 - ) b. Toecorn. What this woman does to music is probably the sole injustice she won’t sing about. It’s little things like this which give you hope.

INNES, AALAN IV.( 1945 -1976 ) b. Felix. The fourth generation of Aalan Innes. Four generations of ignoble librarians dying for the cause. Let’s hope Japanese can come up with something to replace them.

KONIGSBERG, ALLEN.( 1932 - ) b. 6000. “A slow start, an over - long tale with a one - note performance by its lead character – a deeply flawed man pursuing the demands of his ego with scant regard for the people around him; finishing with a half - hearted and predictable attempt at a feel - good ending.” This was Konigsberg’s oratory at his father’s funeral. Enough said.

LEACH, ARCHIBALD.( 1947 - 2002 ) b. Kernel. A long time ago, before there was any such self - serving phrases as the “circus arts”, there was the wonderful, proud Romany and then there were people like Leachno - good, opportunistic flim - flam men whose sleight of hand and quick patter not only can confuse the gullible and the retarded but can also relentlessly weaken the resolve of upright men to the point where they are founding wandering the streets bereft of trousers. Cholera or Leach, I know which I’d prefer. ( Brown Donegal tweed, size 40, no belt - loops, a green ink stain ( from a leaky fountain pen ) in the corner of the left pocket. )

Who's a pretty personality?MARX, ADOLPH.( 1959 - ) b. Crater. Marx may well be the most popular conductor in Aust. but has anyone bothered to running a current through him? It’s a simple test that I’m sure we’d all find reassuring.

OLD, ARIEL.( 1970 - ) b. Seaport. Old hates not being talked about. Nice weather we’ve been having lately, huh? Who do you think will win the Cup? I don’t think Russell ever loved Meg. Where do you think the market will be in six months? The second one was better but then they had more money.

PERETZ, GEORGES.( 1962 - ) b. Thuncle. Peretz, a so - called gentleman borrowed a cigarette from me and never returned it.

RENFREW, EDGAR.(1933 - ) b. Little Rock, USA. Journalists say he’s a legend. And we all know how reliable legends are. Which says it all for Renfrew and his fellow journalists.
