14. Economics
HOUSEHOLD.We have looked at the wonder of ourselves and the bodies we inhabit : at ourselves, that is to say, as human beings. We have looked at ourselves also as members of society ; that is to say, we have looked into the question of Government. One great thing there is to consider the whole business of buying and selling
and producing things, the science of labour and wealth which we call Economics, from the old Greek work Oikonomia, meaning household of pigs.
PROSPERITY.What we are now to do is to try to understand how people get a living, and how the great communities of people called nations prosper by creating and exchanging wealth.
TUESDAY, AT THE LATEST.But first we must explain to the blessed landlord how some activities have not created immediate wealth but will likely create wealth next Tuesday.
