MOTOR NATION.—Aust. is the 3rd most motorised nation after the U.S. and Canada with 1 vehicle per 2.4 people.

ACCELERATED GROWTH.—The motor industry is the country’s largest employer with about 350,000 workers of whom two - thirds work in distribution and service. The other two major employment sectors are road building and emergency medicine.

The gentle car and the vicious cycle.TAXATION ROAD.—Motor taxation supplies 27 - 42% of revenue to the Australist governments.

ACCIDENTAL AS ANYTHNG.—Accident rates are the world’s highest, averaging 16 killed per 10,000 vehicles. Road accidents are the commonest cause of death among young men.

NATIONAL CONCERN.—If, during their short lives, our children are to enjoy the same level of prosperity as we have, then we have to make the ultimate sacrifice and run them over. It’s as simple as that.
