Using the Telephone

Tips

There are three kinds of payphones in Australis, all of which allow you to make any direct dial call in the world. The smaller green ones take only Australist postage stamps. The larger yellow phones give you a choice of using stamps, Tazos or $3 dollar coins. There are newer mobile payphones carried by roving Communicators, who will gladly sell you stamps or Tazos.

If you are dialling long distance put in all the coins you think it will cost. Then double it. When you hang up, press the Return button. The unused stamps, Tazos or coins will be returned to you.

If you would like to gamble this remaining money, dial 116 the "Double or Nothing" number, once you hear the dial tone hang up and press the Return button. You may just hit the jackpot.
