Here I
am in my heyday as a walker. Press here to see
a bigger version of this picture.
I started race walking at school in 1966 but gave it away to
study and did not return to it until 1973 at age 22. I competed until
forced to retire with recurrent knee injuries in 1983. In the
intervening period, I had a great time and became a Centurion along the
way. My best times were as follows
| 1500m | 5:36 |
| 3000m | 11:53 |
| 10 Km | 42:32 |
| 20 Km | 87:12 |
| 30 Km | 2:15:47 |
| 50 Km | 4:03:17 |
| 100 Miles | 22:10:27 |
and major career highlights included
By profession, I work in the IT field as a 'Middleware' consultant and dabble with software on mainframe, midrange and Windows computers for a living. It's different!
