Quilted Journeys

The 2001 AQIPP exhibition Quilted Journeys created for the Immigration Museum.

From all reports, the opening went very well. Members Jan Preston Jill Galvin were able to attend, and can be seen posing with their quilts in the the below photos. Kim Bear, who organised the exhibition from our end, gave the opening address, which was attended by 120 paying guests. The Australian Consul, Helen Jenkins, also spoke at the opening.

The Museum produced a very impressive catalogue of the exhibition, A Report, which contained a professional colour picture of each quilt as well as a statement about the quilt from each of the quilters. We were amused to hear that the Museum had also prepared a Glossary of Australian Terms to help the locals better understand some of the more obscure coloquialisms contained in the statements.

Kim Bear took pictures of the quilts, museum and attendees for us.
