Members' Exhibition 2001

Exhibition Opening

This is the fourth time the Biennial Members' Exhibition has been held at the Box Hill Town Hall. Over 120 quilts were displayed, offering the viewer an enormous range of techniques and topics.

After president Pat Wright's welcome, exhibition convenor Robyn Samin gave a welcome speech, thanking Mrs. Lynne Landy, the Governor of Victoria's wife, for agreeing to open the exhibition, and then thanking the exhibition committee - Glenys Clifford, Paddy Childs-Green, Judy Feder, Jill Galvin, Enid Stone, Anne Sushames and Olga Walters - for their hard work and dedication. She also thanked the small army of White Glove member volunteers whose job it was to safeguard the quilts and inform and inspire the public.

Founding president Megan Terry presented her trophy to Olga Walters, for her quilt Life in a Goldfish Bowl. Paddy Childs-Green then awarded Jacqy Wong's Fishbone quilt the Irvine Green Award for outstanding use of colour.

Mrs. Lynne Landy then officially opened the exhibition.

Refreshments throughout the exhibition were provided by the Red Cross Committee ladies, and all proceeds benefited the Red Cross.

AQA's raffle quilt was won by Jennifer Mizrahi of Altona, a fellow quilter who purchased her ticket from Threadbear in Castlemaine.
