Yesterday’s Biggest Morning Tea, was a big success with 78 people attending raising valuable funds for research into all forms of Cancer. Thank you to all who donated gifts/door prizes and bought along morning tea. Reece Scannell, our Guest Speaker, was well received and gave an interesting talk on colour. Reece was also Guest Speaker at the Geelong Quilt
In held on the previous Sat but spoke mainly on his range of Ladies Fashion. Twenty seven of us travelled to Geelong and we were joined by Valda Martin to make up a whole table. Two bus trips in one year, could there be one more? A day supporting those shops who were affected by the bush fires may be a possibility later in the year. On a personal note I attended Phillip Island Patchworkers Mothers Day weekend and although I did not do any workshops I finished a Quilt top and did some more work on my Basket Weave Quilt that I started at the 2006 Symposium, slow and steady wins the race as the saying goes.
Those members who have donated Quilts to go to people who were affected by the Bush Fires will be pleased to hear that your kindness has been very much appreciated, Jan Macfadyen who is one of the people making sure that they are going where they are needed has received lots of hugs and phone calls of appreciation and has been asked to send them onto you. Although we have not officially had Quilt making days a number of members have donated Quilts, there is still need for more as some people are living in Caravans and temporary housing and are finding the nights extremely cold, so if you are wanting
to donate quilts we will ensure they get to them.
Please keep our Quilt In in mind when you are visiting other Quilt groups you may belong to and invite them to join us for the day. Traders at this stage are Aurifill Threads, The Button Lady, Horizons of Hope and a scissor sharpening service, we also hope to have a fabric shop in attendance, but we are waiting for confirmation.
Planning for our Biennial Members Exhibition is going very well and the Raffle Quilt tickets will be with your July Newsletter, I am sure you will all want to win it as much as I do. The Members challenge Gift packages were keenly sought after and it is hoped that those who have accepted the challenge will enjoy the process. There a still a few left if you would like to
participate. If you are unable to attend any of the meeting times and would like to join in, Contact me on 98743471to have one sent to you .
Quilt In- Retreat-Wangaratta trip-Biennial Exhibition-30th Birthday celebrations-Calendar no one can say nothing happens at A.Q.A, but of course it wouldn't happen without the commitment of the Committee and those Members who so willingly put up their hands to help when required, please know that it is very much appreciated.
Our new Library coordinator Margaret Tilley has been having some training from Helen and I am sure she will be an excellent replacement. Thank you Helen for your efforts and especially for ensuring that we will have a smooth transition.
Thank you Margaret for volunteering to do this for us.
That's all for now.

Kind Regards, Pam
