To understand what changes in regulations related to training mean to you?

The new regulations, - the Rail Safety Regulations Division 3 Sections 38 - 40 require the following:

38 - Competency of rail safety workers

39 - Assessment of rail safety worker competence

40 - Records of competence and training

Competency of rail safety workers means that we must Assess competence against any applicable units of competence recognised under the Quality Training Framework within the meaning of the Skilling Australia’s Workforce Act 2005 or any other competency as specified by the Safety Director

The ARA appointed TDT to review competencies Competencies recognised under the Act. TDT is progressing this and a draft has been produced.

How does all this work ?

Training - is the Big Picture and we must understand it.

Testing  is the critical element

Competency based training is here The regulations give those competencies validity The ARA, through TDT, is reviewing the competencies.

Have some input - make sure they are relevant

Need to flow down the competencies into training, testing and documentation

ARA progressing the development of “lesson plans” and test check-lists

What is happening

The ARA, through TDT, is reviewing the competencies
