| Return to Part 3 index |
A wide range of asset management information exists across the Victorian public sector. Government departments have produced policies, standards, legislation and guidelines on subjects ranging from architectural heritage to roads on Crown land. The private sector has also produced information which is valuable to government departments and agencies involved in asset management.
The Catalogue of Reference, Part 3 of the Asset Management Series, is the first attempt to bring details of existing information together in a single document. Comprehensive indexes by subject, government department and asset class are found at the front of this document. For example, a reader with a query on the maintenance of buildings could look for entries under maintenance, or the Office of Building, or the asset class of buildings. To assist the reader who requires more detailed information than the brief descriptions provided, each entry lists a contact number of the relevant department or agency.
Entry selection is broadly based. Readers should note that entries in the catalogue are for reference only, and may not necessarily be consistent with the policies and practices defined in Part 2 of this series.
Catalogue entries are supplied by Government departments and other agencies. For further details and advice on an item listed, refer to the contact identified in the entry.
Only principal legislation that impacts on asset management is included; subordinate legislation is not listed. For further information, contact the department responsible for the relevant legislation.
Please note that referring to the legislation listed in the catalogue should not be relied on as a substitute for seeking legal advice, where this may be deemed to be appropriate.
While every effort has been made to include all available information, it is recognised that this catalogue will not be an exhaustive listing. It will be updated and reprinted regularly, and department and agency assistance is vital to ensure that emerging issues and new practices impacting on asset management are included.
Your suggestions for the catalogue can be made using the form in the Attachments at the end of this series.
