This week* an international film festival has stopped in on our shores*it's called RESFEST. And a new book about that very Australian teenage film Puberty Blues* written by the star of the movie NELL SCHOFIELD. And last week saw the 150th anniversary of the Eureka Stockade* where in 1854 miners on the Ballarat Goldfields took a stand against increasing pressure from the Government. We've looked at Eureka over the last couple of weeks on Arts Alive* and to finish off this special we're going to look at two cultural artefacts. Firstly* the Eureka Flag* with its blue background and silver white stars. We talk to the women who restored the flag* VAL D'ANGRI . She's also the great great granddaughter of ANASTASIA WITHERS* one of the women who made the flag 150 years ago. And we also speak with sculptor ANTON HAZEL* who has create a rusted iron work that now stands on the original stockade field. Last year Australia became a part of the RESFEST calendar and the festival has just wound up in Melbourne* but there is still time to catch the festival in Sydney. NINA-MARIE PETRIK speaks with the Australian Producer of RESFEST CLARE STEWART and asks CLARE to explain how RESFEST has evolved. For more information about the RESFEST Program go to www.dendy.com.au. Back in 1981* BRUCE BERESFORD released a film with a gritty* sweaty*sea side view on Australian teenagers in the 1970's. At the time it was one of Australia's highest grossing films and it tells the story of two girls trying to win the acceptance of the school's top surf gang. It's called Puberty Blues and starred NELL SCHOFIELD* who has just launched a new book delving behind the scenes of this 23 year old movie. Today* The Eureka Centre stands on the Rebellion site* a white building topped with a massive replica of the Flag pointing into the air. And in front of this building is a new work by sculptor ANTON HAZEL. The sculpture is a circular rusted iron fence with images of the stockade cut into the iron.
