As mentioned in the news, the Australia Council received a modest increase in funding, also the taxation breaks for big budget overseas film productions were extended to big budget TV productions, and the Australian Broadcasting Authority and the Australian Communications Authority are to be amalgamated. But there was one winner: Culture consumers in the bush. And regional centre are also on the touring schedule for an Australian initiative, the 15/15 film festival. Winning films, and films made in and about the locale of each screening will be on the program as it tours regional Australia, Indonesia and Europe. Established by the State Library of Victoria to make cyberspace accessible to the non-tech community and the socially disadvantaged, half the staff have been sacked.
