Our Guest is Ron McCoy, an expert in Gaelic music and language, who will be taking up a fellowship at the National Library of Australia¡K then presenting the outcomes of his research as a performance at the National Folk Festival next Easter.¡K But first a round up of the week¡¦s news¡K STING NEWS: (4.59) The Art House in Melbourne and the Performance Space in Sydney have joined forces for Translab, a creative residency program that offers spaces, fees, technical and dramaturgical support for teams of artists to engage in intercultural and cross-cultural performance works. An exhibition of the finalists and winners of the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize has opened at the National Archives of Australia, in Canberra. The gallery is one of four that are the oldest regional galleries in Australia, and has launched the careers of several notable gallery directors, including the present and immediate part director of the Queensland Art Gallery. To look into the history of regional galleries I spoke to Dr Caroline Jordan, whose professional career started when she was employed by the Bendigo Gallery to catalogue its collection.
