This week¡K  A conference coming up in November in Melbourne is all about Jane Austen and comedy¡K Our guest is Brian Smith the executive office of the Local and Community Services Association of NSW and our conversation is about their recent conference and lessons for community arts development¡K and the there is another Venice Biennale that gets much less attention than the big shebang last June¡K It is the architecture biennale¡K and the Royal Australian Institute of Architect has just selected to team to represent Australia in Venice next year¡K.But first a round up of the week¡¦s news¡K

A little percussion from Drumbalya¡K The Jane Austen Society of Australia recently held its annual conference in Sydney. Now another Jane Austen conference has been announced¡K this one is for Melbourne in November, and will focus on Jane Austen and comedy. I spoke to Professor John Wiltshire of La Trobe University, the convenor of the conference¡K but first I had a confession to make¡K I wasn¡¦t wildly keen on Jane Austen, so I wondered if her continuing popularity was more a girl thing¡K

And that was Kev Carmody who took out the award for the best album release of 2007 at the recent Deadly Awards.  The song was one of his own, I¡¦ve Been Moved, and the recording was made at the Winter Dreaming concert for reconciliation at the Melbourne Concert Hall¡K now called Hamer Hall¡K back in 2001.

In the alternate year to the Venice Biennale of Contemporary art, the exhibition park in Venice is given over to an architecture biennale. 
The Royal Australian Institute of Architects has just announced the team that will lead the Australian presence opening in September 2008. I spoke to Carey Lyon, the Immediate Past President of the Institute and previous chair of the Venice Architecture Biennale Committee for the story¡K.
