This week* the Melbourne Fringe Festival kicks off on 26 September* and I hadn・t realised that the Melbourne Fringe is 25 years old this year.  It actually predates the Melbourne International Arts Festival・s predecessor, the Melbourne Spoletto Festival by some five years* and we hear the story of Music NSW* energetically promoting new music and artists.  We sometimes play new Indigenous music that is produced by one of their labels, WhichWay.  

And our guest is first time author, and full time gynaecologist David Kowalski.   His debut novel, The Company of the Dead has just been published by Macmillan*  But first a round up of the week・s news*

That is Bring it On from Wire MC just one example of the music developed and published by Music NSW on the Whichway label, a label that specialises in new Indigenous performers.  We heard the music of two very different artist, Emma Donovan, and Radical Son on the program last week.  While in Sydney recently I asked Jane Poules the corporate director of Music NSW about what her organisation does*
