Hi and welcome to Arts Alive, your weekly arts and culture current affairs radio...I'm BRODIE FLYNT and I'm NINA-MARIE PETRIK* This week* OzOpera's  school size version of Mozart's the Magic Flute.*The alternative to the AFI's *the FilmInk Awards celebrations in Sydney last week*and we speak with Erin Branagan*the Curator of the Reel Dance on Film Festival which is currently touring the country. Our Guest this week is Brett Dean the recently appointed Artistic Director of the Australian National Academy of Music*He comes to the academy after fifteen years in Germany as a violist* and a couple of years on the tranquil Sunshine Coast. And wishing Opera Australia a happy fiftieth birthday was group of primary school students*including hearing impaired students from Furlong Park School in Melbourne*at the preview of OzOpera's school size version of Mozart's the Magic Flute. This version was specially created for OzOpera by Tim Sexton*Richard Jeziorny (Jezi-orny) and Christine Anketell*who also directed the 2006 production.  Vincent went along to the preview and after the performance caught up with Christine Anketell.

Christine Anketell from OzOpera...  You would be amazed to learn how much George Lucas's  STARWARS borrows from Mozart's The Magic Flute.   The aria that opened that report was from the duplicitous Queen of the Night* the dark side of the force* performed by Melanie Adams* and the mini Magic Flute commences its school's tour this week...
Last week Sydney hosted the self-proclaimed alternative to the AFI awards, the 2006 Movie Extra Filmink Awards to honour the best* and worst films of the past year.  STEPHANIE MARCH asked Filmink magazine publisher, Dov Kornits, how the Gala went*
