Port Phillip Citizens for Reconciliation

[interview, Jacki Willox - 3 minutes 59 seconds]

"Think nationally, act locally" is the conservationist's motto, but a Melbourne group is putting the words into actions. Though formed in June 1997, the Port Philip Citizens for Reconciliation has already showed how the reconciliation process can begin at the grassroots level, and how cultural events can provide the key.

The group has recently organised a 5-hour indigenous film and video festival "Tracks" in mid-November, which follows a symposium on native title.

Nasya Bahfen spoke to Jacki Willox, the spokesperson for the Port Philip Citizens for Reconciliation, about how the group was formed, who is involved in the group, and the importance of the group's diversification in current political climate.

If you are interested in getting involved of the reconciliation, contact Jacki Willox on (03) 9534 2028 to get in touch with your nearest DONT (Don't Overlook Native Title) group.
