One thing that as emerges in making ARTS alive is how diverse are the backgrounds of people who work in the arts, and how varied are the roads that lead them to their present arts practice.

Photo journalist and photographer Ilana Rose began as a "one-person-photographer" doing all the works involved in local newspapers. But now she is best known for her works on the Big Issue Australia, which are mostly committed to social issues and youth culture.

Ilana talks to Jan Chandler about what she learned from her board-spectrum experiences. She also talks about her idea of being a photographer as being manipulative in a possible sense.
