25 years on, Goon still beloved

September 1997 was the twenty fifth anniversary of the recording of the last episode of the highly esteemed "Goon Show" by the BBC. Starring opera singer Harry Secombe, actor Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, the show first hit the airwave in 1951. It had been running on the ABC radio since before almost everyone can remember, and it remains one of the most popular and longest running weekly programs with people of all ages.

A quarter of a century has passed, and now the Goons are back on radio. But if you think it's out of date for the new generation, it is certainly not the case. So what exactly is the magic charms of "The Goon Show"?

To find out the answer Vincent O'Donnell asked Tim Richie, who put "The Goon Show" to air.
