Shakespeare goes physical under the horned moon[interview, Vallejo Gantner - 7 minutes 05 seconds][recording, rehearsal of "The Tempest" - 1 minutes 09 seconds] Horned Moon Productions literally sprang to prominence last year with their physical theatre production of "A Midsummer's Night". Subsequently they took the production to Singapore, where they experienced the trials and triumphs of touring in Asia. Undeterred, they plan to tour their new production of "the Tempest" to Hong Kong and mainland China after its Australian season, as part of an increasing export trade in Australian cultural production. It seems that the production group is becoming experts of creating physical rendition of Shakespeare's works. But Horned Moon's producer Vallejo Gantner said they are moving on beyond Shakespeare and heading for creating their own plays. Before the opening week of "The Tempest" in August, Nicole Foote spoke with Vallejo on the task of adapting Shakespeare's words into physical movement on stage. Vallejo also told about the differences between Singaporean audiences and those in Melbourne, how Horned Moon is planning to overcome the langauage barrier with audiences overseas during their tour, and some advices to those taking productions to Asia.
