new major dance company selected

the state of Victoria has selected Chunky Move as its new contemporary dance company. The Victorian State Government Advisory Panel voted unanimously to support Gideon Obarzanek ahead of other companies including the Australian Ballet.

Gideon Obarzanek consists of ten full-time dancers who work with artistic director Obarzanek and producer Angharad Wynne-Jones.

Gideon Obarzanek has already established a national reputation. The company will premier its works in a show called 'Chunky Move' in Melbourne next year. Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett explains the selection of Victoria's new major dance company.
