shadows in the dust

[interview - 7 minutes]

SHADOWS IN THE DUST opened at the Museum of Victoria last week as part of a national tour that began in Cairns a year ago, and will end in New York in 1999.

The exhibition features the lustrous black and white photography of PETA HILL, and linocut prints by ZANE SAUNDERS, DANIEL GEIA, SHANE GORRY and LISA MICHI. In addition there are recordings of oral histories, ambient sounds, of the Cape, and the technologies of the stock worker, the saddles, the bed rolls, the fire irons.

The exhibition was opened by the director of the Museum of Victoria, GRAHAM MORRIS, who first observed that this exhibition was the last in the building that the museum had occupied for 100 years. The Museum will open its new building some time in the year 2000.
