ARTS alive - LOUD special

statement of purpose

We couldn't let the LOUD festival of youth culture on the arts go by without celebrating it. Also in this special edition of Arts Alive we want to take a critical look at LOUD, something that only Zane Trow seems to have done.

We want to ask if it is really a big break for youth, if anyone over 25 knows or cares about it. Has one single opportunity for one young person, not already in the arts, being created? (Even ABC TV is recycling 'Race Around the World' program makers as youth personalities.)

Also setting in motion that process of evaluation is vital to at least one Australian political party if a festival of youth culture on the arts is to be a regular feature of our Australian cultural landscapes.
