Our Emblem

APS Waverley Emblem Our Group’s floral emblem is the Chocolate Lily (Arthropodium strictum), one of the most deliciously scented Australian flowers with a chocolate-like or caramel perfume which it exhales as the day warms. It is widely distributed across Melbourne’s south east in remnant bushland like Jells Park, Valley Reserve and the Outer Circle railway reserve. Arthropodium strictum’s distribution, beautiful mauve flowers and distinctive scent make it a natural choice as our emblem.

In 1985, at the suggestion of APS Waverley, the former City of Waverley adopted the Chocolate Lily emblem, and in 1988 the lily was placed on the masthead of our Group’s newsletter. Its simple yet distinctive outline has proudly graced the publication ever since.
