We delivered our groups donation for one of the raffle prizes for the SGAP 2009 Conference in September to Nicky Zanen at APS Wilson Park’s Spring Plant Sales at Berwick. We were very pleased with the framing of the Cranbourne Royal Botanic Gardens, Australian section photo.
And of course we did not go home empty handed, even though we were in the ute. Wayne picked up Banksia burdetti, B.baueri, B. Dryandroides plus Banksia speciosa and Banksia caleyi these last two are to replace the ones we had lost up in the treelines and an extra Eucalyptus Silver Princess to add into one of the new treelines.
Marg’s choices were Hypocalymma robustum (pink), Calytrix sullivanii (pink) and Actinodium cunningham (Albany Daisy)and Will’s free plant was Plectranthus argentatus, it will be potted up when it’s big enough.
Is this Banksia praemorsa form, ‘High Noon’ confused or what? I know we showed a picture of this plant last month but I could not resist photographing this flower head on a single stem. The first 8 buds have started to flower and there are about 23 buds to go. Is it the change in weather patterns, with such a mild winter and spring seams to be early this year, has this confused this plant that much. Has anyone else had anything like this happen to any of their plants this year or at any other time. We have had some with a couple of buds but never with this many. I will bring this specimen in to our next meeting.
Looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting as Denis Nagle is giving a Talk on Sturt National Park.
See you there, from Wayne Wilkinson.
