It Happened to Us MkIII - Sleeve

This book is about the events that took place in the Japanese invasion of the Pacific and how we, as Prisoners of War, saw her threat to Australia during World War II. It covers events experienced by those who fought to stem the invasion and experienced 3½ years as prisoners of the Japanese.
It covers the main highlights of the Pacific War, from Japan’s infamous bombing of Pearl Harbour, and follows with Japan’s conquests in her ambition to achieve a Greater Asian Co-Prosperity Scheme, which, had she been successful could well have included Australia, with Japan in the lead role.
It tells of Australia’s defence of New Guinea, and how, in the battle off Midway Island, America saved our country from invasion. How through the brilliance of one man, planes from America’s aircraft carriers were able to surprise the imperious Japanese Navy, and destroy their invasion fleet’s force of four ‘invincible’ aircraft carriers and their planes, in just four exquisitely timed minutes -. crushing Japan’s naval supremacy, and turning their fleet on the defensive, back to Japan.
It highlights why Australia is such a lucky country to have retained the freedom we now enjoy.
The book tells what POWs believed to be the truth about the invasion. It has been written primarily for the younger generation, who, as future leaders, need to understand our history in order to protect the future freedom of this lovely country.
