THE AUTHOR - and the `boys' who contributed these stories.
The author Gunner (Colin) Finkemeyer was a proud member of 1 5th Battery's 'George Troop' of the 4th Anti-Tank Regiment.
He was one of many 'boys' who, at that time, loved our beautiful country and its freedom and were prepared to help defend it from the invasion by the Japanese.
They enjoyed compiling their first book - 'It Happened to Us'. The younger generation's interest in their wartime activities prompted them to put together these stories of the lighter side of their lives.
These men were keen to pass on their experiences to the boys of today so that they may gain an insight into the deep-seated personal qualities that lie dormant within them.
They believe that the future happiness and freedom of our wonderful country rests solely in the hands of our young people, confident they will handle it well.
