About Us

The Australian Napoleonic Association (ANA) was conceived to further the aims and objectives of member Living History Groups and Associations that accurately portray military and civilian activities during the 1789 to 1815 period.

The ANA is a non political organisation and will accept Groups and Associations which meet the following criteria:

  • Each group/association must be incorporated.
  • Each group/association must have a safety policy.
  • Each group/association must be authentic to their specific unit portrait.
  • Each group/association must hold public liability insurance to the limit required by State law.

Currently, the ANA will not hold incorporation or insurance. If this condition is to change, then each member/affiliate group will be responsible for raising appropriate funds to hold insurance and incorporation.

The ANA is not responsible for any of its members acting outside its events or activities.

The function of the ANA is not to have functional control of its members or affiliates, but act as a sole point of contact in order to maintain stronger links between its members and the general public/clients and government agencies.

Each group will meet and elect a representative to serve on the ANA Committee.

The ANA will meet and elect a chairperson from the delegates elected to the committee

The ANA Chairperson that is elected will serve an annual term. No group or chairman may hold the chair for more than two consecutive years unless agreed to by the committee.

Should any vacancy occur in the Chair, such a vacancy shall be filled by a person appointed by the rest of the members of the ANA and unless objection is received from more than 10% of the membership of the ANA, such person shall operate with the full power during the remaining term of time of that office.

No military or civilian rank is held by the Chairman or organisers of the ANA.

No salary/personal funds will be paid to the chairman or organisers of the ANA. Legitimate expenses will be covered by the respective groups/associations.

The property and income of the ANA shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects of the ANA and no part of that property or income may be paid or otherwise distributed, directly or indirectly, to the members of the ANA, except in good faith in the promotion of these objects.

Should decisions be required to change the functions or directions of the ANA, then each group/association will have equal voting rights. This is regardless of the size of the group or association.

It is proposed that the ANA operate mainly from this website. Initialisation and maintenance of this website will be agreed to by the members. This website will be maintained and operated on behalf of the ANA.
