What is a Femoral Osteotomy?

Osteotomy of  femur. - surgical cutting of a bone and realigning the ends to allow healing in better alignment.

In my case I went to hospital at the age of about 2 years 5 months, and had the operation. My parents tell me that the operation went for several hours. I had two Doctors operate on me. The Doctors, put my bones back in their hip sockets, then put " nuts & bolts" in my legs and stitched my legs back together. The Doctors put me in a 'colourful' full body plaster cast. I stayed in hospital for several days. The staff at the hospital were fantastic and looked after me very well. I was able to leave hospital after a few days. I was in the plaster cast for several months. It became a bit smelly after a while. The Doctor said that after I came out of the plaster I would look like that I had just got off a horse. (my legs would be wide apart)
