The programme covers: current issues for AustraliaŐs libraries; the process of advocacy; the importance of planning and the value of partnerships; dealing with the media (with a video starring Barry Otto); dealing with politicians; harnessing community support; the importance of friends groups and related organisations.

The workshops are designed for generalist librarians with no Asian language knowledge who require a knowledge of basic information sources for Asian studies.
They will provide participants with a knowledge of the basic information sources for China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Participants will gain a good understanding of the major English language and bilingual sources of inform-ation for East Asia and Southeast Asia.
Cost: $195 for two workshops; $110 for each workshop
