General Information and accommodation

Name Badges
Your name badge must be worn at all times as it is your entry to all sessions and functions. If you have a shared registration it is the delegatesÕ responsibility to ensure handover of name badge/satchel.

Messages
The EBSCO message board will be located in the atrium on Level 3 of the World Congress Centre. Please check regularly for your messages. Callers should be advised to phone the Congress Centre on (03) 9629 4100 and to ask for the ALIA Conference Registration Desk. There will not be a public address system to deliver messages and delegates will be responsible for checking the message board.

Climate
October can be full of surprises in Melbourne with Spring sunshine and possible showers. Average temperatures 14¡C - 20¡C (57.2¡F - 68¡F) You may need a jacket at night and an umbrella just in case!

What to Wear
Smart casual for sessions. Lounge suit/cocktail dress for the Marvellous Melbourne Dinner or come in masked brilliance!

Smoking
Smoking will not be permitted at any of the conference events taking place within the Congress Centre with the exception of designated smoking areas.

People With Special Needs
Should you require any specific assistance, indicate on your registration form to enable us to make your stay in Melbourne a pleasant and comfortable experience.

Seating at Sessions
The seating capacity per room varies. Delegates are advised that seating at all sessions is on a first in basis. In the case of the session of your first choice being full, please choose another session to attend.

Airport Transport
Melbourne International Airport is located 22km north-west of the city - about a 30 minute drive. Both direct international and domestic flights utilise this terminal complex. Bus and taxi services to the city collect passengers outside the terminal along the ground floor level of the airport.

The City Shuttle Bus: Skybus operates an airport to city and return shuttle coach service between Tullamarine Airport and Spencer & Flinders Street Stations (city). Travel time from the Melbourne airport is 40 minutes (non peak time). A one-way adult fare is AUD$9.00*.

Taxis: Taxi cabs are available outside the terminal along the ground floor level. approx AUD$30.00 to the city.

Passport and Visas

All visitors to Australia are required to have a valid passport and may need entry visas. (Please check with your travel agent). Visas can be applied for, and issued from, the Australian Government representatives in major cities throughout the world.

Vaccinations
Vaccinations are required if travelling to Australia from a yellow fever infected area. This is most likely to affect delegates travelling to Australia from certain regions in Latin America or African countries.

Currency and Banking
The Australian Dollar (AUD$) is a decimal currency with units in dollars and cents. All major international banks or their agencies have branches in Melbourne. Normal banking hours are Monday - Thursday 9.30am to 4pm and Friday 9.30am to 5.00pm. Most banks are closed on weekends and public holidays.

Accommodation and Travel

Accommodation
Sue Wood Travel (Convention Network) can co-ordinate your accommodation requirements whilst in Melbourne. Very attractive rates have been negotiated at a range of hotels.

How to Book Your Accommodation
Please indicate on the registration form your accommodation requirements listing hotels in preferential order (1,2,3 etc). As there is limited space available at each hotel, it is important that you book early. Accommodation will be allocated strictly in order of receipt of registration form. Please include a minimum of one nightÕs room rate as a deposit with your registration fee payment. The balance of your accommodation account and any incidental charges must be paid in full directly to the hotel on departure.
