Welcome to the home page of the Warrnambool Family History Group.
We have tried to include all the information you may need about the facilities and activities of our group.

Warrnambool is the major coastal city in the south-west of the State of Victoria, Australia. The population of Warrnambool is around 28,000 and is located on the beautiful 'shipwreck coast' and is surrounded by some of the most productive dairying land in Australia.

The Warrnambool Family History Group is the trading name of the Warrnambool Area of The Australian Institute of Genealogical Studies Inc.

The basic purpose of the Warrnambool Family History Group is to foster the study of Family History in Warrnambool and the surrounding district by conducting a varied range of activities in which members and the public may participate.

The Warrnambool Family History Group maintains and staffs a Reference Library in the Mechanic's Institute building at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum which provides a range of resources for Australian and overseas research and collects and indexes local Family History material for the use of members and the public.

ENTRY TO FLAGSTAFF HILL FOR RESEARCHERS
Those wishing to visit the Mechanic's Institute only at Flagstaff Hill (for Research and other associated activities) do not have to pay normal, full entry fees to the facility. Make your intentions known at Reception. If you possess suitable identification linking you with the AIGS or other Genealogical Group then please present it at this time. You will then be issued with some form of visible identification (still to be finalised) so that Staff can monitor your movements within Flagstaff Hill. Under these circumstances, you need only pay a Researcher entry fee of $2.00.
More details later as procedures are finalised (we are all still learning to "live" together at 'The Hill').

Further details of the activities, holdings and services provided by The Warrnambool Family History Group may be obtained by clicking on the Navigation links on the left side of this page.

We trust that the information you seek is here. Please enjoy your visit to our web site.
