Fox-Davies, A. C. The Art of Heraldry. London: Bloomsbury Books, 1986. (First published 1904, publisher unknown.)
An extensive study of heraldry both in England and on the Continent. Many good examples of medieval usage. Much of the text material and many of the plates are taken from Heraldischer Atlas by H. G. Strohl (Stuttgart, 1899) and many of the text illustrations are from Fox-Davies' Armorial Families. (JG)
