The first reinforced concrete subway in Victoria was designed and built by Monash at Muddy Creek near Moorilim. The remainder shown on the map were designed by the Victorian Water Supply Department and built by Monash's firm as General Contractor. Contracts A and B were let simultaneously. The numbering system was introduced by Monash.
Contract A: Subways I to III.
Contract B: Subways IV to VI.
Contract C: Subways VII to X.
