Hurstbridge arch bridge. Built 1917.

Glancing view from the bank just below deck level. The nearest arch rib is prominent, with short pillars supporting the deck. The absence of spandrel walls and the use of a handrail, rather than a parapet wall, give the bridge a much lighter appearance than the firm's early Monier arches.

This open-spandrel, twin-arch bridge was probably designed by J. A. Laing after Monash left for active service. As often happened, the municipality's engineer was given credit.
