Falling Gunshots
Falling gunshots echoed in my ear
Footsteps coming closer
Death prowling a carpark
No chance for those caught too slow in fleeing
Or who caught the eye of the gunman
A time of fame for him around the world
A lifetime of sorrow for those left behind
I fear many more such days
No where are you safe
Not in your own home
Not in a large city or in a small country town
Accept it
Cry with the families
This world is not the Truth
Look within for this
Detach from all around
All
Painful and hard
May take many lives
But time is none.
Family in this life could be enemies in the next
So do not weep
They do not die
You are they and they are you
One together
Look beyond at the cracks in the ignorance
Your I
Your sense of a separate identity is not a blessing
But the curse preventing us from seeing the Truth all around
It is not at the top of a mountain
In a cave
The forest
But within us at all times from birth to death
Accept life
Don't fight it
Let go of all security
There is none in this illusionary world
Let it go and stop fighting
A hand loosed from the bank against the raging flood
Yank it loose and be washed away
Peace at last
Acceptance that you can do nothing
God in you and without you
