Sunday lunch in Footscray
We drove down to Footscray on a windy, cold, rainy Sunday
Trish, Sarah and I
Into the red hatchback, out the path and off we went
Dodging the neighbours busily washing and waxing their cars
Sorry missis Jones, see ya next week.
We sang ‘tra la la’ as we sped down the road checked by the red light
Nothing coming
Ignore it and off we went round the bend on two wheels
We felt good
Green horse of a tram rears up in front of us
So with a toot and a smile we shimmy up its arse, move to the side
And skid bon voyage to the metallic fire breather.
Ever nearer our destination
Vietnamese signs on all the buildings
A little bit of Vietnam in Melbourne
Parking outside Blockbuster Video store, this will do
Strolling past numerous restaurants, each shop another one
A feast of culinary delights for the world to behold.
Eennie, Meenie, Minie Mo
We picked on and had satays, noodles, rice, spring rolls for grub
Sarah tucked in heartily, polishing off the noodles and the rice
Good girl
Finished and Sarah went to the toilet, sprinkling her knickers and pants
Not to worry we can walk back to the car
And Sarah laughing, sticks her bare botty up to the world
Everyone joins in laughing.
