Who Knows
plenty of poems lie idle in the drawer
dust off the typewriter
grab a pen
write some more
type them out
click, clack, clock
send them off
who knows!!
Old Building
Postcards I buy from the central GPO
old Victorian building
magnificent and ancient
I work in a wonderful old place
state library of Victoria
domed reading room
stretching high to the sky
wall art above the music section
love the way the steps have worn away with time
massive bluestone rocks make up the wall
the effort to bring these here
build the structure
supreme
Mind can help no more
Mind can help no more
it has had its chance
been found wanting
cannot explain itself
there is no explanation
live in the void
forget
no interference in the process of life
watch
Lose the skin
scratch, shiver and shake
talk to me
I need your love
who does
I
who am I
who am 1
look and there is no one
skin shedding like a snake
look within
Puffing Billy
we rode the silver of the dandenongs
puffing Billy
creaking and shivering in the uncommon cold
linked with a crew of waving fellow passengers
waving out the windows at anything which moved
cars stopped on crossings
happy faces looking at us shaking hands like mad
us smiling in return, the happiness generated by
those on the train and those off it
enough to power the world
spontaneous laughing and waving by tattooed men
working on road works
large ginger beard fellow driving the dagger waves
as his machine drives along
everyone is happy on and off puffing Billy
Why can this not happen to all around the world in all situations
puffing Billy for everyone
who not!!
The clock began again
My watch started ticking
tick, tock, tick, tock
amazed I stood with gaping jaws
a precious time keeper had strolled back
I picked it up as gently as a babe
afraid to disturb its ticking
but I needn't have worried
It lay on my hand tick tocking away
a mystery for all to imagine
my watch had started again
lo these many years sitting idle on my wrist
I whooped in a hectic dance
splendid in a mad frenzy of joy
what time is it I wondered suddenly
I can set it right
no way a small voice chimed
who's that
me echoed a voice from the face below
leave me alone
don't you know by now
there is no time
past, present or future
let it go
Disappearing Mango
speak and ye shall be heard
flies landing on our front
cherries, red and squashy to the touch
yellow bright bananas snuggled up tight
lay across a gaggle of apples
big juicy red ones
small pimply green ones
a mango or two lucky to be untouched
my favourite fruit of all
completing the arrangement a huge green orb
rock melon standing proud
friends and neighbours all
encased in wicker basket for all to eat
yum, yum
go away flies
now where has that mango gone
Trish!!!
Power to the fats
No flies on me mate
look at me bod
not an ounce of fat on me
except for me rolling belly
double chin
fat arse
objects of beauty
fuck your culture of thin wankers
get the fat bods out there
plenty to feel
kiss and suck
love to ram my cock up under a rolling belly
taken from behind
feeling through the flesh
fat is best
fat is sex
fat is ready for a good rooting
uncover yourselves
flaunt it
crush the thin bastards
power to the fats
Bankrupt Mind
space and time entrap us
in an illusion of our own making
separate and individual
fighting against the world and all
we are the world
ego has arisen and mind
clothing us in a skin of ignorance
unable to see things as they are
filtered through our personal prejudices
judging, evaluating, missing the truth
let it settle
no effort or striving
leave well alone
watch and laugh
no good or bad
simply what is
no time or space
simply an eternity transcending both
we are the eternity
we are perfect now
no need to strive for anything
perfect you are
perfect I
together we are one
in a dance like a sleepwalker
awake I cry
slapping you across the face
go into fear
go into trembling and humiliation
don't run away
look them in the face
no judgement
no saying they are bad
all ideas, moral or otherwise
come from a bankrupt mind
Bathroom Spider
a huge hairy spider clung to the wall
sitting on the toilet I eyed it up
spidery eyes gazed back
unmoved the spider remained calm
my how huge it was
half the size of my hand at least
finishing up I flushed the bog
stepped over the side and peered up
the spider peered back
I wondered how to get it out of the house
I did not want to kill it
It had done me no harm
come upon the idea of brushing it into a dust collector
reaching up with the brush I tapped it gently
whoosh
it was off
so fast
over here, over there
up and down the wall
my fear surfaced as I screamed
jumped back
watch the mad careering
it fell onto the potty, directly underneath
vanished inside
I lifted up the bowl but nothing to see
I knew it hid somewhere in the potty
I opened the back door
grasped the potty at arms length
checking spider was not lurking where my fingers gripped
slowly I picked up the potty
edged my way outside and dropped it
clanging on the floor the spider still hid
I turned it over and over
there he is
sat on the plastic lid
huge and black
I tapped him and shook the potty
he fell onto the grass and did not move
I retrieved the potty and returned it to the bog
coming out to find the spider in the same spot
with trepidation I touched his legs
they recoiled but he did not move
I leant over as close as I could get
peered directly into his eyes
he showed no sign of seeing me
the sun burnt down
I left him where he sat
ducked inside for the shade
only to look out the window
he still sat unmoving
bye spider
Melbourne Hot
my it is hot
damn hot
bloody hot
ripples of sweat leech off by bod
Trish has had an accident
in the car
taken in the side
damage
no hurt
thank goodness
Sarah not in car
thank god
my it is hot
damn hot
why do I write when the sweat itches
cold glass of water close at hand
not beer
oh no
not after Friday
whoo wee
pissed as the proverbial
no idea what I did
had a bloody badly cut thumb though
head to match
thump thump
not a good idea
beer
on a hot day
dehydrates you does the grog
last thing you need
in 40 degree heat
over 100 for you Fahrenheit mob out there
my it is hot
stinking hot
night is here but temperature very high
no sleep tonight
trish and damaged car
quotes, insurance
more than one
get if fixed
how to get to work
rent a car
no
courtesy car
here's hoping jack
bowling high
sweat sticking to my palms as I type
slow down brother
no rush
heat will still be here tomorrow
my it is hot
sauna hot
playing tennis in this heat
crazy
yet the Australian open
grand slam event
is doing just that
players falling all over the shop
don't blame them
I would retire hurt to the shade
no way hose
keep me out of hit
turn on the cold water
fresh as a daisy
but it sure is hot.
Mum
my mother loves me if no one else
mothers love is blind
mothers are warm and gentle
protecting us from the world
even when I am 30 I feel safe with my mum
thank goodness for my mum
how I love her
