Stuck on a trolley in the hospital

I lay on the trolley for two days in the local hospital
Pushed out into the corridor with the stiffs
Someone threw a sheet over my head hoping I’d go away
I pulled it off peering into the strange gazes of folk walking by
Who’s that old geezer mam?
Shush Davie
But he’s still alive mam, what’s he doing out here
Thank goodness, at least someone noticed me
To the rest I’d be better off dead
In fact I’d feel better
So I crawled under the blanket and waited
Waited for the echoing footsteps
To tell me it was time.
