Beauty’s Sleep
Man awoke to the sound of a crying infant
Suckling for milk
No mother to be seen
What can I do thought the man
This wondrous baby, a true angel born to woman
Is hungry
After its mothers milk.
But where is she?
Gone
The sound whispered on the breeze
Gone
‘Gone where’ the man shouted spinning round wildly
The baby is yours now’ the voice said gently
Fading away ‘Look after her’
‘No come back’
The voice slithered away and the man looked down at the baby
Girl in his arms.
She smiled at him and he laughed.
‘My own baby, what am I to do with you’
He took her home to his barren wife who wept with joy
At the sight of the child
‘I will love this angel more than anything’ she cried
She was true to her word and the baby grew into a fine woman
Hearing voices in her sleep
Not frightening but loving and calming her to sleep.
Sleep deeply Beauty
Be not afraid
I am here to look after you.
