Sitting on the Patio

It is a lovely evening
A wicker chair rocks suspended between two metal posts
White fake alabaster posts holding up a tattered roof
Of open ended wooden slats
Birds nest and sing above
It is so peaceful with the sun shining
I stir my vodka and drink deep relaxing into a summer evening
Crickets voice their nightly song
Sarah chases after the noise only for it to stop
Restarting close by
Each and every time the silence falls
I am no longer there
Disappearing into a nothingness which alone is real.
Birds land on me, insects too
I smile
At last.
